FAQ
Product
It's hard to say exactly how old an athlete should transition from youth to adult since young athletes come in all shapes and sizes, but our general answer is 10-and-under fits youth well. Please adjust accordingly to the size of your child in relation to his/her peers. Note that our adult glasses have an adjustable nose piece so they can be tightened to fit. We have some 5'0 college softball players that wear them comfortable.
No, just our adult glasses. With the youth glasses, we focused on making them harder to break instead of easier to lose. All youth glasses have an extra layer of finish on the lens to help reduce scratching.
All adult glasses come with a polarized lens, but please note that you typically do NOT want to play ball sports in a polarized lens. Instead, we recommend the high-contrast, 26% light transmittance primary lens.
Yes and no.
Most our adult glasses come with a "carrier frame" that clips inside the lens. Your eye doctor can outfit it with prescription lenses. We used to do this ourself, but no longer offer this service. If you're ordering a pair to Rx with your optometrist, just email us and let us know your order # so we can insure it comes with a carrier frame.
Other
Not any more. We used to, but lately it has been more of a hassle than makes sense to continue doing.
We get a lot of donation requests for team sets, fundraisers and everything in between. You're more than welcome to send them to help@solaroshades.com, but we typically don't send donation pair of glasses. We will sell them at a team discount for volume, but we're a startup that can't give away thousands of pairs of glasses every year. Thanks for your understanding!
Pro-tip: if we donate, we're more likely to do so with existing customers. We get a lot of "I love your product" messages from emails that aren't customers.
